The BRIT Awards 2019 with Mastercard today reveal an all-star British line up of 2019 BRIT nominees with eight nominations between them as the first live acts confirmed to perform at next year’s ceremony: George Ezra, Little Mix and Jorja Smith, in celebration of another huge year in British music. The BRIT Awards take place on Wednesday 20th February at The O2 Arena, London, broadcast exclusively on ITV and hosted by Jack Whitehall.

As announced on Saturday 12 January, George Ezra is nominated for three BRIT Awards this year - British Male, Mastercard British Album of the Year and British Single. Little Mix are nominated twice for British Group and British Artist Video, whilst Jorja Smith receives three nominations for British Female, British Breakthrough and Mastercard British Album of the Year.

Jason Iley, BRITs Chairman and Chairman and CEO of Sony Music UK & Ireland said: “I’m delighted to welcome George back to the BRITs to cap off what has been such an exceptional year for him, particularly with the success of his second UK No. 1 album as well as having two of the biggest-selling singles of the year. It is an absolute pleasure to have Little Mix return to the stage following their spectacular and explosive opening performance at the 2017 BRIT Awards. Finally, welcoming the hugely talented Jorja Smith back to perform is particularly special after she won the 2018 Critics’ Choice Award and performed an unforgettable duet with Rag’n’Bone Man. It has been another fantastic year for British music and we are very proud to kick off the first announcement with such a wealth of homegrown talent.”

George Ezra has had a phenomenal year; scoring his first chart topping single in the UK, Ireland and Australia with ‘Shotgun’, taken from his second studio album Staying at Tamara’s which went to No. 1 in the UK Album Charts, becoming the best selling artist album of 2018. His 2014 debut album Wanted On Voyage is certified 4x platinum, and his recent tour, including a night at London’s Wembley SSE Arena, garnered rave reviews from critics across the board. This will be the second time George has performed at the BRITs, following his performance of ‘Budapest’ in 2015, the first year he was nominated. George is nominated this year for British Male Solo Artist, Mastercard British Album of the Year and British Single for ‘Shotgun’, bringing his total BRIT nomination tally to seven.

They’re bold and they’re beautiful and they’re back at the BRITs - British pop superstars Little Mix are set for yet another incredible TV moment, following what was described in the press as a ‘stunning’ and ‘spectacular’ opening performance on the 2017 show, the same year that they won their first BRIT for British Single of the Year. One of the UK’s most formidable girl groups, Little Mix have five UK Top Ten albums and 13 Top Ten singles, making them one of the UK’s biggest selling girl bands of all time. Little Mix are nominated for British Group and British Artist Video of the Year for ‘Woman Like Me’ ft Nicki Minaj.

After winning the 2018 Critics’ Choice Award, British R&B singer Jorja Smith is capping off an incredibly successful year with the announcement of her debut solo performance at this year’s BRITs, after joining Rag‘n’Bone Man on the 2018 show. Her debut album ‘Lost & Found’ went to No. 3 in the UK Album Charts on release, and was also nominated for a Mercury Prize. A track on the Kendrick Lamar-curated Black Panther soundtrack has seen her gain fans across the world, with a GRAMMY nomination for New Artist this year too. Jorja Smith is nominated for British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act and the Mastercard British Album of the Year.

The BRIT Awards 2019 with Mastercard take place Wednesday 20th February at The O2 Arena, London, broadcast exclusively on ITV and hosted by Jack Whitehall. Clara Amfo and Alice Levine will be back to host this year’s Red Carpet show on ITV2 on the night of the awards for the third year running.
