The BRIT Awards with Mastercard have today announced that the BRITs Nominations Show, ‘The BRITs Are Coming’, will live stream on the Official BRIT Awards YouTube channel for UK and international viewers, alongside the ITV and ITV Hub broadcast from 5pm GMT Saturday 18th December. YouTube Music is this year’s BRITs Digital Music Partner.

The one-hour show will be hosted by acclaimed broadcasters Clara Amfo and Maya Jama, who will exclusively reveal the much anticipated nominations for the 2022 BRIT Awards, reflecting on yet another incredible year for British and international music. There will be a total of 13 awards given out at the BRITs this year, including four new genre-based awards, and, for the first time ever, an International Song of the Year category to recognise the biggest songs from global artists of the past year.

Geoff Taylor, Chief Executive BPI & BRIT Awards said: “The BRIT Awards are not just the biggest night in British music, they command a growing audience all round the globe. We are delighted to partner with YouTube Music and YouTube Shorts to bring fans up close and personal with all the action. That begins with a stellar line-up of performances as we announce the nominees this Saturday, broadcast on ITV and streamed on YouTube. Tune in to find out who’s in the running!

Dan Chalmers,  Director of YouTube Music, EMEA added: “It’s such an exciting year for The BRITs with the addition of new categories.  We’re thrilled to help music fans be a part of the proceedings as they unfold live, wherever you are around the globe, right the way from the nominations live on YouTube, to what’s happening behind the scenes on the day on YouTube Shorts.  Never has it been so easy to get close to the action, wherever you are.”

The BRIT Awards also today reveal a collaboration with British jewellery designer Hannah Martin, who will be creating bespoke sculptures for all British nominees for the 2022 awards.

Each British nominated artist in categories including Mastercard Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Artist of the Year will be the recipient of an elegant bronze-cast ‘B’, which Hannah describes as “something between a sculpture, a hand-held object and a piece of jewellery”. The object is 100% sustainable and made from recycled bronze and ebony.

Each ‘B’ will include a unique QR code which, once activated, will launch a hidden AR filter to create content with. This creates an immersive experience for artists in celebration of their nomination for a BRIT.

This sculpture for nominees was commissioned with support from jewellery consultant and concierge Kate Baxter from The Cut, London.

YouTube Music is the Official Digital Music Partner and will bring fans closer to the BRITs than ever before. As the home of the official livestream on YouTube, audiences around the world will be able to watch the whole journey of the BRITs unfold, from the nominations, through the run-up, to the awards themselves and the performances on demand afterwards. In an exciting first, fans will also be able to watch exclusive behind-the-scenes footage on the night on YouTube Shorts, a new short-form video experience right on YouTube, as well as listening to their favourite artists' playlists on YouTube Music. YouTube Music sponsors the 2022 Artist of the Year award.

Mastercard return as headline partner for the 24th year having supported The BRITs for over two decades, bringing cardholders closer to music through a range of Priceless BRITs experiences. This year, Mastercard will continue to sponsor the much sought after Mastercard Album award, as well as Song of the Year with Mastercard for the second time and is proud to carry on connecting people to priceless possibilities.

The BRIT Awards 2022 with Mastercard takes place Tuesday 8th February at The O2 arena, exclusively broadcast on ITV and ITV Hub and hosted by Mo Gilligan. Last week the winner of the 2022 BRITs Rising Star award was revealed as Holly Humberstone, who will also perform on the main show.

Further campaign announcements will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
