The British Music Embassy, the UK’s official home at SXSW, has kicked off in spectacular style, with four evenings showcasing the next generation of brilliant British talent.

A total of 50 emerging UK artists are playing across 12 showcases between Saturday 11th and Saturday 18th March, with nearly half already having hit the stage the stage. The Courtyard was at capacity on Saturday night as the opening evening saw Tyson, Low Island, Brooke Combe, Warmduscher play, while Sunday night witnessed a classical takeover with Classical For The Now followed by an unforgettable live 3D/AV show from Max Cooper.

Monday night’s showcase was presented by Marshall, and the stage hosted Gen & The Degenerates, Panic Shack, Red Rum Club, Kid Bookie, Dead Pony, and Noisy, while ATC-Live presented Tuesday night’s SXSW showcase with Ishmael Ensemble, The Golden Dregs, The Goa Express, Sans Soucis, Mandy, Indiana and special guests Balming Tiger.

There are further showcases until Saturday at The British Music Embassy, featuring the likes of Sports Team, Venbee, The Orielles, Dream Wife, and more. This year The British Music Embassy also joins forces with BBC Music Introducing to present the first ever BBC 1Xtra Introducing showcase, featuring six of the best breaking UK R&B, soul and afrobeat acts. Taking place on Thursday 12th March, the showcase includes Samm Henshaw, Bellah, Miraa May, Obongjayar, SIPHO, and Yazmin Lacey.

Throughout SXSW, the BME will once again highlight the creativity and diversity of the British music scene, which annually makes BME one of SXSW’s anchor venues for international delegates.

The live performances are being powered by Bowers & Wilkins Sound System, with the world-renowned audio brand’s custom built, one-of-a-kind PA system bringing its revered True Sound to the live music stage. This is the first live appearance of Sound System in over five years, having previously featured at some of the world’s leading music festivals including Primavera Sound and WOMAD, as well as on tour with Jamie XX.
