She’s not quite a “brand new” artist, but when it comes to exciting UK talent, Gabrielle Aplin is close to the top of the list.

The English singer-songwriter came to fame in 2012 after recording a heartfelt rendition of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “The Power of Love” which became the first John Lewis Christmas Ad song to reach #1 on the UK Charts.

However, in 2017, Aplin parted from her label Parlophone and started releasing music via her own independent label, Never Fade – and the music has never been better. Her EP “Avalon” featured the fantastic pop single “Waking Up Slow”, but it’s her December 2018 release “My Mistake” which has truly taken our breath away.

In her ability to be painfully honest about her flaws, and wear her heart on her sleeve, Gabrielle Aplin has released one of the most heartbreaking songs of the year – and it’s an absolutely incredible piece of music.
