Gramophone magazine take the honours ahead of teams from BBC Music Magazine & Premier Classical

The fifth running of the annual Nordoff Robbins Classical Quiz, organised jointly by the BPI Classical Committee and PPL, raised over £6,200 for the music therapy charity last night.

The quiz was won by Gramophone magazine, captained by Editor Martin Cullingford. They finished ahead of BBC Music Magazine and Premier Classical, second and third respectively in a contest of 17 teams.

The Flamingo Room in O’Neill’s Wardour Street was full to capacity, enjoying raffle prizes of premium opera tickets, restaurant experiences, hampers, champagne and the traditional mountain of box sets from extremely generous record companies!

The quiz was compiled by Gramophone Editor-in-Chief James Jolly, and included a spoken word round voiced by Simon Callow. The event was compèred by Mark Wilkinson, SVP for Global Classics and Jazz at Universal.

The organisers and members of the BPI Classical Committee would like to thank all those who attended for their generosity and enthusiasm in supporting such a worthwhile cause.

The well-chosen video from Nordoff Robbins, featuring Sheku Kanneh-Mason and presented by Sarah Wainman, reminded everyone present of how the money raised will support the charity’s vital work.

The quiz continues to be a keenly awaited annual fixture in the classical music calendar, and we all look forward to next year’s edition in November 2020!
