Participating SMEs showcased their products and ideas to politicians and policymakers, who were able to engage with interactive demo-stands.
Guests, including Members of Parliament and Members of the House of Lords, learned about the innovative nature, growth potential, and economic significance of the recorded music industry.
BPI CEO Dr Jo Twist OBE delivered a speech celebrating the successful impact of the GrowMusic programme, while also calling on politicians and policymakers to deliver policies that support and foster growth in both the music and tech industries.
Last week (Tuesday 27th January 2026) BPI was delighted to come together with parliamentarians and SME start-ups at the interface of music and tech to celebrate the latest successful iteration of ‘GrowMusic’ the music and tech business support programme launched out of BPI’s Insight & Innovation department in collaboration with London & Partners and Abbey Road REDD.
Organised by BPI, the GrowMusic Parliamentary Drop-In welcomed a broad range of politicians and policymakers to learn about the programme and meet the cohort of 16 companies that were selected to take part.
The event, kindly sponsored by Liam Conlon MP (Lab, Beckenham and Penge) in the House of Commons, spotlighted the UK's vibrant music tech ecosystem, with participating businesses demonstrating innovations across sync, music and wellness, AI, and education amongst others. The event featured interactive demo stands which guests were able to engage with.
Over 20 cross-party parliamentarians and staff attended the drop-in, including Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Nigel Huddleston MP (Con, Droitwich and Evesham) and Chair of the House of Lords Communications and Digital Select Committee, Baroness Keeley (Lab).

Alongside celebrating GrowMusic’s successful impact, BPI’s CEO Dr Jo Twist OBE delivered a speech setting out the recorded music industry’s key policy priorities in relation to innovation and growth. She emphasised the importance of policies that help sustain continued collaboration between the music and tech industries to drive long-term economic growth across the UK, as well as the fundamental role of the UK’s gold-standard copyright framework in underpinning crucial BPI member investment.

BPI was also delighted to be joined by its GrowMusic programme delivery partners at the reception. This included representatives from Abbey Road REDD, London & Partners, ADK, Measure of Music, Universal Music Group and UK Black Tech.
Sara French, Director of Trade and Growth at London & Partners, also took a moment to say a few words, congratulating the GrowMusic team and the participating businesses on the successful completion of the GrowMusic 2025 programme, while praising the recorded music industry’s innovative nature and growth potential.
The event marked the successful completion and official graduation for the participating companies from the GrowMusic programme, with all companies recognised for their achievements and presented with official graduation certificates.

BPI hosted a similar GrowMusic Parliamentary Drop-In event in 2024, which celebrated the highly successful inaugural GrowMusic cohort. To date, businesses from the previous cohort have collectively raised over £20 million of new investment, created 20 new jobs, launched 21 new products and services, and reported increased revenue. Several participants have also received nominations for major industry awards and formed new strategic partnerships as a result of the programme.
