The Hyundai Mercury Prize has announced its dates for 2020.

The Hyundai Mercury Prize and BBC Music, the Prize’s broadcast partner, believe that it is important in the current crisis to continue to showcase and celebrate the achievements of British & Irish artists and musicians.

The shortlist of the twelve 2020 Hyundai Mercury Prize ‘Albums of the Year’ will be announced on Thursday, 23 July 2020.

The Hyundai Mercury Prize recognises the best new British & Irish music, celebrating artistic achievement across an eclectic range of contemporary music genres.

The 2020 Hyundai Mercury Prize Awards Show will be held at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith on Thursday, 10 September 2020 (subject to Government guidelines). The event will celebrate the twelve shortlisted artists & albums - and the evening will culminate in the announcement of the overall winner of the 2020 Hyundai Mercury Prize for Album of the Year. BBC Music will be providing television and radio coverage of the event.

Hyundai Motor, the Mercury Prize’s title partner, will be celebrating the shortlisted artists and continuing to support innovations in British & Irish music.

The 2020 Hyundai Mercury Prize will open for entries on Wednesday, 29 April 2020 and will close at 6pm on Wednesday, 20 May 2020.

Albums by British or Irish artists released between Saturday 20 July 2019 and Friday 17 July 2020 (inclusive) are eligible for entry, although submissions must be received by 20 May 2020.
