Julian Wall Director of International Events at the UK trade body the BPI has announced the dates for the 2011 international trade mission programme. The first of these will be the US Sync Licensing mission taking place June 6/8th in Los Angeles. This event looks to link UK music companies with film, TV, advertising and computer games operating out of the entertainment capital of the world and assist them in placing UK music in their products and titles. The location of the second BPI trade mission is across the other side of the world in Tokyo, Japan – the world’s largest music market outside of the US. This event seeks to give UK companies a crash course in the dos & don’t of selling music in that complex market. The dates for the Trade Mission to Japan will be October 4/6th. It is also hoped to add a further international mission event to a major European market during the year, and this will be announced shortly. Speaking of the missions generally Wall added that, “there exists a proven track record in the value that these exercises have for UK music companies and the BPI are delighted to be able to present another exciting programme for 2011”.
There will be an open meeting at the BPI London office on March 2nd where BPI personnel and others including previous mission delegates can explain how each trade mission works and answer any questions from potential future delegates.
