2011 LA Sync Mission Report

The 7th annual BPI Sync Licensing mission took place in Los Angeles June 6/8th. Organised in conjunction with the UKTI and Music Publishers Association (MPA), the mission saw 45 UK companies travel to the US and over three days of presentations, panels, seminars and site visits to learn about sync licensing in film, TV and computer games in the world’s entertainment capital, Los Angeles. Taking place in Studio B at the iconic Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood – where since 1956 many of the world’s most famous artists have recorded, including the week before the mission Paul McCartney who was laying down tracks for his new album – the Sync Licensing mission aims to give its delegates a crash-course in how the market works and connect them to the key gate-keepers, music supervisors and senior executives that make the decisions and choices in this important area and of increasing revenue significance for independent labels and music related businesses.
