Promoting the business

The BPI implements various initiatives to promote UK music, musicians and music companies at home and abroad. Beyond day-to-day press, lobbying and legislative activities, this promotion takes on a number of forms:

The BRIT Awards are arguably the most visible promotional activity, giving an important platform for new artists as well as celebrating the success of more established acts.

The BPI also presents certified awards for shipments of 60,000 (silver), 100,000 (gold) and 300,000 (platinum) albums as well as schemes for the singles and Music DVD markets.

The BPI is also active at national and international trade events, helping to raise the profile of its members and their artists.

This all combines to deliver indispensible PR work that has guarantees UK music is high on the agenda at home as well as overseas.
