BPI & Record of the Day Present - Synchronisation & Brand Partnerships

BPI Legal Seminar – November 10th 12.30/2.30 PM, BPI Office Westminster

As the range of ways to generate income from music is becoming wider, we are hosting a seminar on the use of music in advertising, games, films and television, showing how it can be used both as a promotional tool and as a source of income for labels and artists.
The essential theme of the seminar will include the exploration of how the right campaign and brand partnership can be a valuable marketing tool for artists and labels, by bringing your music to a wider audience and making people familiar with it prior to its commercial release… as well as how an ‘evergreen’ song can generate significant income from synchronisations in certain products, especially where other content or rights can be offered as part of the package.

This will be the third in the BPI/ROTD series of Legal Seminars and will be presented by leading entertainment lawyers Harbottle & Lewis, specialists in the provision of high quality legal services to the music, media and entertainment industries.

The presentation will be led by Chloe Wright, Partner in the Music Group at Harbottle & Lewis. Chloe has significant experience in relation to new media technology and online synchronisation of music titles. Her client list includes a large number of new artists, independent (and major) labels, producers and performers. In addition, Chloe has a strong knowledge of the various collection societies and their various licensing procedures and schemes.

Joining in the presentation will be Partner Paul Cairns, Co-Head of Harbottle & Lewis’ Interactive Entertainment Group specializing in all commercial aspects of the video games industry. Paul was previously VP Business Affairs at EA Games.

Amongst others, the Harbottle & Lewis client list currently includes:  Universal Music Group, Virgin Group, 19 Management, Ascent Media, Penguin Books, O2 (UK) Ltd, international brand owners such as Vodafone, Take 2 Interactive Software, Sega Corporation, as well as film and television producers and distributors Channel 4, Merchant Ivory, Working Title and Tiger Aspect.
