Getting Your Music Online – Seminar 4: Overview

As of April 17, 2005, sales of digital downloads will be eligible for the singles charts. Any labels who are not download ready may find that this adversely effects chart positions. This series of 6 seminars is aimed at avoiding that.

This seminar, the fourth in the series, will see presentations from:

DRML

DRML (Digital Rights Management Limited) offer a service for labels to brand, protect and sell digital content to PCs and mobile from their own or any other website without any special technology. Labels have total control over the branding, look, pricing and availability including full digital rights management, payment collection and usage tracking.

Rightsrouter

Using Rightsrouter a record label can manage all their digital licensing requirements including digitisation, data preparation, contract sign-up, packaging and delivery; essentially a business affairs service for access to online and mobile services. Rightsrouter’s clients represent the largest block of UK independent music currently being administered by any of the digital delivery or aggregator services.

Real (Rhapsody)

Rhapsody is a digital retailer that, like Napster, uses the subscription model. With its own internet radio and media player built in, Rhapsody’s strong emphasis on editorial content has seen it become one of the most popular sites in the US. A UK launch is expected in 2005.
