There’s a report in today’s Times newspaper about BPI’s submission to the BBC Trust’s consultation on the BBC Strategy Review which could be interpreted that the BPI is somehow arguing that Radio 3 should be closed, or for it to be saved in preference to 6 Music. This is categorically not the case – we explicitly say that we greatly value Radio 3 as well as 6 Music.
We’ve made a number of detailed points in our submission to the BBC. One of them is that we believe that a public broadcaster like the BBC should be there to focus on the provision of diversity of quality cultural output because that is where the greatest value for license payers can be achieved.
