    BPI Market Information – July

    19. August 2010 16:43
    by Chris

The July market information report by the BPI’s Research Department is now available for members to download here. In addition to the usual data series on the singles, album and music video markets it features:

    •  A look at first week sales in the albums market for the period January to July. The Easter-released Now 75 is currently setting the bar for week-of-release sales, with more than 250,000. Eminem’s Recovery is the fastest-selling artist album of the year so far and hasn’t been out of the top 2 in the chart since its release

    •  An update on album sales by type of music in 2010. Rock leads the table seven months into the year, with Florence & the Machine’s Lungs the biggest seller in the genre, but Urban is having an undeniably strong year with titles by Eminem, Alicia Keys and Plan B all selling well. We covered Urban’s success in a one-off report at the end of June - this is also available from the members’ section of the site

    •  Comprehensive monthly and year-to-date charts. Now 76 was the month’s best selling album while Yolanda Be Cool vs D Cup’s We No Speak Americano topped the singles chart in July

These and all reports from the Research Department are free to BPI members. Non-members can access these with a subscription to the Market Information Series.
